Tulåh Clinical Wellness, which opened near Kozhikode on India's Malabar coast in Kerala at the end of 2025, positions itself as the world's first clinical luxury wellness retreat — a sanctuary built specifically at the intersection of ancient Ayurvedic tradition and rigorous modern medicine. The name derives from the Sanskrit word for balance, and the setting is significant: Kerala is where Ayurveda has remained a continuous, unbroken tradition for roughly two thousand years, and Calicut, on the same coast, was where Vasco da Gama first arrived in 1498, opening the spice route that historically linked this region's pharmacology to the rest of the world. Tulåh builds directly on that depth of tradition while applying LEED- and WELL-standard architecture and genuinely clinical infrastructure rather than treating Ayurveda as purely heritage or ambiance.
The clinical wing is comprehensive: a fully equipped operating theatre, an ICU, medical suites and 24-hour monitoring support advanced diagnostics, critical care and minor surgical procedures on-site, including genome and microbiome mapping, radiodiagnostics, CT and MRI imaging. For complex cases, Tulåh draws on a network of more than 200 specialists from its JCI-accredited sister institution, Meitra Hospital, built in collaboration with doctors from the Cleveland Clinic, just 20 minutes away. The in-house medical team itself spans modern medicine, Ayurveda, functional medicine, psychology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, nutrition and movement science — a genuinely multidisciplinary model that's rare even among clinically oriented wellness retreats. Every guest journey begins with a comprehensive clinical assessment, including body composition analysis, genomic analysis and microbiome study, before a personalized program is built.
Treatments bridge biotechnology and traditional ritual directly: the property's own engineering team developed the Ayurvedic Vichy Bed, a globally patented, world-first design that reimagines traditional hot-oil Panchakarma treatments through a more technologically optimised delivery. Beyond this signature innovation, offerings span Ayurvedic and Tibetan therapies, cupping, moxibustion, IV nutrient therapy, and regenerative treatments including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, cryotherapy, photobiomodulation and exosome infusions. Movement and mind-body practice are built around Iyengar Yoga and Vedantic philosophy, complemented by aquatic therapy, breathwork and sound healing sessions held beneath the property's striking Sonorium dome. The surrounding grounds supply seasonal produce for a therapeutic farm-to-table restaurant, while Wi-Fi-free zones and deliberately quiet spaces throughout the property are designed to cultivate stillness and encourage genuine presence between treatments.
