Janu Tokyo, the debut property of Aman Group's new Janu brand, sits in the newly developed Azabudai Hills neighborhood and is anchored by a 4,000-square-metre, four-storey wellness centre — one of the largest in the city. Janu, meaning "soul" in Sanskrit, is explicitly built around a philosophy of social wellness, and the wellness centre reflects that with two distinct zones: one geared toward active, communal movement and one toward slower, more traditional relaxation. The fitness side includes one of Tokyo's largest hotel gyms at 340 square metres, equipped with Technogym, Outrace and SkillX machinery, alongside five dedicated movement studios offering spinning, yoga, aerial yoga, a golf simulator, and the first boxing ring in a Tokyo hotel — plus a recovery studio featuring a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber.
The relaxation side centers on an extensive hydrotherapy and thermal area, anchored by a striking 25-metre lap pool and a separate heated lounge pool surrounded by loungers designed for social unwinding. Traditional Japanese bathing facilities, cold plunge pools, saunas and steam rooms are built into both the male and female changing areas, along with a separate family changing room. Two signature Spa Houses — the first of their kind in Tokyo — are available for exclusive private hire by up to four guests, each featuring hot and cold plunge pools, relaxation rooms, double treatment rooms, and traditional banya and hammam facilities blending Eastern European and Middle Eastern bathing ritual with Japanese sensibility.
The spa's treatment menu spans seven treatment rooms, with the 90-minute Janu Signature Massage standing out as the property's flagship offering. For guests not staying overnight, Janu Tokyo has opened its wellness centre to day visitors through Spa House Day Experiences — personalized two-to-four-hour journeys built around a traditional banya, hammam, or Janu signature treatment. A dedicated consultation room and hair and nail salon round out the more clinical and beauty-focused side of the offering, while the broader wellness centre's emphasis on group classes, from high-impact circuit training to social spinning sessions, reinforces Janu's positioning of wellness as a communal, connection-driven experience rather than a purely solitary pursuit.
