Amanpuri, the original Aman resort, opened in 1987 on a private peninsula on Phuket's west coast, its traditional Thai pavilions set among coconut groves overlooking Pansea Beach and the Andaman Sea. The property's Holistic Wellness Centre is the original and most comprehensive Aman Spa in the world, drawing on Aman's experts in ancient healing techniques and alternative therapies. Facilities include 12 treatment rooms, each with its own shower, restroom and dressing area, along with a glass-walled, sea-view gym staffed by personal trainers, an infrared sauna and a steam room. For an even more private experience, the Spa House offers enhanced hydrotherapy including a Vichy shower, Banya sauna, infrared sauna, steam rooms, and an indoor jacuzzi, plus a private pool and outdoor jacuzzi, bookable for exclusive half- or full-day use by up to two guests.
What sets Amanpuri apart within the Aman portfolio is its medical integration. In 2019 it became the first Aman resort to introduce integrative medical services, delivered by a certified medical team from Thailand's Thanyapura health and sports resort, organised broadly into anti-ageing and preventive medicine, aesthetics, and sports performance. This medical team — doctors, physiotherapists, chiropractors, nutritionists, TCM practitioners and Ayurvedic physicians — works alongside Aman's traditional healing specialists rather than replacing them, and can prescribe treatments such as IV nutrient infusion therapy, hormone injections, colon hydrotherapy and cryotherapy as part of a bespoke plan. Beyond medical care, the wellness menu extends to specialist energy-healing options including craniosacral therapy, Chi Nei Tsang, connective tissue massage and lymphatic drainage massage, plus mind-body practices like mindfulness coaching, guided meditation, tai chi and qigong.
