Mana Sanctuary has officially opened its doors in Bali, introducing the island’s first next-generation wellness sanctuary built around recovery, performance and longevity. Founded by wellness entrepreneur Janine Cottle and her husband Trent, Mana moves beyond traditional relaxation-focused retreats, pairing evidence informed recovery practices with ancient healing traditions for high-achievers who’ve been running on empty while still expected to perform.

Janine knows that tension well. She founded Escape Haven in Bali in 2008, which has since welcomed more than 15,000 women over 18 years and is ranked No. 1 for specialty lodging in Bali on Tripadvisor. It continues to operate as Bali’s dedicated women’s retreat. Mana Sanctuary is her next chapter, built with Trent to extend that same model of care to couples and to men, so partners no longer have to experience Bali’s wellness scene apart from each other, or not at all.

“Burnout was never a women’s issue or a men’s issue - it’s what happens when high performance isn’t matched with real recovery,” said Mana co-founder Janine Cottle. “We built Mana so that whoever walks through the door, man or woman, gets the same thing: a program that meets them where they actually are, not where they’re pretending to be.”

That shared starting point runs through the whole guest experience. Every guest, regardless of gender, begins with Mana's six-night, all-inclusive Foundation Reset, a structured program of protein-forward meals, contrast therapy, breathwork and daily movement, informed by circadian rhythm and designed to support sleep, recovery and energy.

From there, guests add one of seven Pathways suited to their goals: Longevity & Lifespan, Ayurveda Detox, Movement & Vitality, Mindful Focus, Deep Rest, Mana Healing, and a dedicated Men’s Mental Fitness pathway. Each Pathway is guided by a hand-picked team from Mana’s in-house specialists: a functional doctor, an Ayurveda doctor, a healer, a traditional practices expert, a chiropractor, a nutritionist and a movement trainer. With a team of more than 40 and a maximum of 14 guests, every guest’s program is closely supported - and guests leave with a personalised 21-day integration program, designed to carry those routines home rather than leave them behind at the retreat.

Guests complete a detailed pre-arrival consultation, so staff can plan around their needs rather than hand them a menu of options on day one. “These are highly capable women and men who are already the CEO of their company and the CEO of their household,” Janine said. “The greatest luxury we can offer has nothing to do with thread count. It’s removing decisions. We tell guests: Let us take the decision-making off your plate for the week.” It’s part of a broader philosophy Janine has spoken about publicly - that wellness travel works best as a guardrail, not an ambulance. “I’d love us to become less of the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff, and more of the guardrail at the top,” she said.

Many of Mana’s early guests are high-achieving professionals - men and women alike, looking to optimise their performance, wellness, clarity and longevity, rather than simply switch off for a week. Trent Cottle, who shaped Mana’s approach to men’s mental health and movement, said the goal was never to add more years for their own sake. “You don’t want to extend the runway if you’re not looking after the flight,” he said. “Longevity only means something if you’re well enough to use it - clearer, calmer, stronger in the years you already have. That applies whether you’re a man or a woman walking through our doors.”

Mana Sanctuary pairs its wellness programming with purpose-built facilities. These include a riverside lap pool, an onyx cold plunge, an infrared sauna, a jacuzzi, spa-grade treatment rooms, sleep sanctuaries, a protein-forward kitchen and lounge, and a library overlooking a lotus pond. An outdoor gym opens in December 2026. Onsite recovery therapies include PEMF, red light and IV infusions.

The land where Janine and Trent first lived in Bali is now the heart of Mana Sanctuary. That sense of home shows up in the design as much as the programming. The luxury suite bedrooms feature limewashed walls, carved teak and woven rattan. The bathrooms use handcrafted jade and navy tiles, travertine, onyx and bronze. Stone, marble and jute run through the communal spaces and a riverside shala.

Mana Sanctuary sits alongside Escape Haven as a complementary offering, extending Janine’s model to men and to couples. Mana is the next step in that story - built with Trent and built for everyone.
